Apple has released iOS 17.1, the latest update to its mobile operating system. The update includes a number of new features and bug fixes, including AirDrop improvements, Apple Music updates, bug fixes and more.

The iOS 17.1 update has been available in beta since last month. The official release now brings major improvements along with some tweaks and fixes. All the iPhone models that received iOS 17 will receive the update iOS 17.1. These are- iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone SE 2nd and 3rd generation.

To download the iOS 17.1 update, go to the Settings app on your iPhone and then to General > Software Update. Tap Automatic Updates, then select Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates. Your iPhone will then download and install the update automatically. These are the some of the major updates that your iPhone will gets once you update it to iOS 17.1

AirDrop improvements: AirDrop transfers can now continue over the internet when you step out of AirDrop range, making it easier to share files with friends and colleagues. Basically, you will no longer have to stay close to someone if you are transferring files. There is a new “Out of Range” toggle in the AirDrop section of the Settings menu that you can toggle to allow or disallow transfers over cellular. With iOS 17.1, AirDrop transfers can now continue over the internet, even if you’re not on the same Wi-Fi network as the recipient. This makes it easier to share files with people who are further away, or who are in different locations.

StandBy enhancements: The StandBy mode, which turns your iPhone into a bedside clock and displays glanceable information, has been improved with new settings and features giving more control when the display turns off when used in the smart display mode.

Apple Music updates: Apple Music has received a number of updates, including a new Favourites feature, a colour-matched playlist artwork options, and more. The app now also suggests songs to add to playlists. It also adds a new quick action to play your favourite songs. Just long press the Apple Music icon on the Home screen. The album art browser has been redesigned to make it easier to find and browse your music collection. You can now view album art in full screen, and see a list of all the songs on an album.

Books App: The “Reading Now” section in the Apple Books app has been renamed to “Read Now.”

Action button update: In the iOS 17.1 update, Apple made a change to the Action Button on your iPhone. Now, when your iPhone is in your pocket or bag, pressing the Action Button won’t accidentally turn on the Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, Focus, or Magnifier functions.

Other features and bug fixes: The update also includes a number of other features and bug fixes, such as fixing the issue with the search function in the Messages app.
