Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a formal invitation from the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Trust to attend the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya in January.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 22, 2024, and was confirmed during a meeting between the Prime Minister and Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Trust.

मैं खुद को बहुत धन्य महसूस कर रहा… pic.twitter.com/rc801AraIn

Along with this post, Prime Minister Modi shared a photograph featuring members of the trust responsible for overseeing the temple’s construction, extending the invitation to him.

In response to the invitation to PM Modi for ‘Pran Pratishtha’ in Ayodhya, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut responded by saying, “There is no need to invite the PM. He would go by himself. He is the PM, he would definitely go. Why would anyone leave such a big event? Ram Mandir was supposed to be built. Thousands of karsevaks have given their lives for it. All Hindutvavadi organisations and parties were involved. Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad were there… LK Advani took out a Rath Yatra. It is the result of all of this that Ram Mandir is being built… This is why PM Modi would go and perform prayers but I think that this is the preparation of the elections… “

The formal invitation to the Prime Minister comes in the wake of an announcement made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat, who stated that the installation of the Lord Ram idol would take place at the Ayodhya temple on January 22, urging people to organise celebratory programs at temples throughout the nation.

The consecration of the Ram Lalla idol will involve a 10-day ritual, commencing on January 14, as stated by Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Temple Construction Committee.

The ground floor work of the three-storey Ram temple has been completed, and the trust has chosen Makar Sankranti, falling on January 14, as the auspicious date to initiate the consecration process.
